The one major killer of bonsai gifts is over watering. This can be a problem because we have a tendency to think that all plants need a certain amount of water.
Most of your bonsai plants are fairly drought tolerant. The best thing to do is allow them to be damp but not soggy. It is better to have a plant too dry than too wet. Almost let them dry out between waterings. This is less harmful to the plant than over watering.
