Tilling The Soil

Tilling the soil simply means turning it over, stirring it up breaking up clods. Breaking up hard pan makes it easier for water to soak into the soil instead of running off or standing in the root zone. Tilling makes the nutrients more available to the plants, making it easier for the plants to grow. Tilling can be done with a shovel, a pic, a garden tiller, or a tractor and plow or disc.
